A Holiday Marketing Plan for Local Businesses in 2026
Plan your October–December marketing with one clear offer, useful content, a working landing page, and a weekly checklist your small team can manage.
For a small local business, a useful holiday marketing plan starts with one offer you can actually deliver, one destination page, and a schedule your team can maintain. You do not need a different promotion for every date on the calendar.
With October approaching, use the next few weeks to prepare the offer and customer experience before the busiest part of the season. This example plan is designed for a shop, café, studio, or local service business; adapt it to your actual capacity.
Choose the business goal before the promotion
Decide whether you want advance bookings, gift purchases, event attendance, or inquiries for work after the holidays. Choose one primary goal for the campaign.
Then write a one-sentence offer: “Customers can book [specific service] for [available period], with [clear inclusion], by [real deadline].” Only use a deadline or limited quantity when it is true.
A service company may be better served by filling January appointments than discounting work it cannot fit into December. A café might promote a gift bundle it can consistently stock. These are planning examples, not promises about which offer will perform best.
Late September and October: build the foundation
Confirm the offer, fulfillment details, photography needs, and who approves the content. Make a page that explains what is included, the price or quote process, availability, and how to buy or book.
Test it on a phone. Make sure the product, offer, and call to action agree with the posts that will send visitors there. Check that staff can answer basic questions without needing the owner for every reply.
Google’s seasonal landing-page guidance recommends preparing pages early, linking to them, and reusing suitable recurring URLs rather than creating a new one each year. Keep the page’s visible offer accurate when the season changes.
November: explain the offer from several angles
Use a small set of content themes rather than posting the same graphic repeatedly:
- Show the product or service clearly.
- Explain who it is a good fit for.
- Answer one purchasing or booking question.
- Show a relevant detail, process, or approved example.
- Remind people of a genuine deadline or remaining availability.
For a hypothetical gift bundle, that might mean a clean product photo, a short unpacking video, an explanation of pickup, and a final order-date reminder. The information changes while the offer stays consistent.
If you add paid promotion, send people to the matching page and measure meaningful actions. Our Google Ads landing-page checklist helps prevent a campaign from sending interested visitors into a confusing homepage.
December: keep operational information current
Update holiday hours, order cutoffs, pickup instructions, and booking availability wherever customers rely on them. Assign one person to make those updates and another to check the live result.
Prepare a response for common situations: an item is sold out, a preferred appointment is unavailable, or someone missed a deadline. Give the team approved alternatives they can actually fulfill.
Do not leave an expired promotion running because the scheduled posts were forgotten. Put the removal or update date on the same calendar as the launch.
Use a weekly review that takes ten minutes
At the same time each week, answer five questions: What is going out? What needs approval? What still needs to be photographed? What are customers asking? What needs to stop or change?
Keep the content deadline separate from the publishing date. A video needed on Friday cannot depend on footage scheduled for Friday afternoon. Use a videographer brief and deliverables checklist to make that handoff explicit.
Judge the plan by business outcomes
Record inquiries, bookings, purchases, and fulfillment issues alongside content activity. If the offer brings attention but few relevant inquiries, review the page and the offer before simply increasing posting frequency.
